Rum punch, two ways

I like rum and coke, but it’s a bit basic. For a special occasion, it’s nice to have something nice. Also, if you’re having people round, it’s good to make a big pitcher of something, so that people can help themselves without having to mix anything. For these kinds of situations, I like to make rum punch. Here are a two similar set of ingredients that I like for making punch:

Recipe 1: with Amaretto

  • 1 part amaretto (Disaronno)
  • 2 parts rum
  • 4 parts juice (pineapple, orange, passionfruit or prefereably a mixture)

Recipe 2: with grenadine

  • 1 part lime juice
  • 2 parts rum
  • 2 parts grenadine
  • 4 parts juice (pineapple, orange, passionfruit or prefereably a mixture)

Just pour all the ingredients into a jug and that’s it. I like to keep it in the fridge until people arrive, then take it out and add ice. To reduce how much the ice dilutes it, I use ice cubes made in an ice cube tray with huge moulds.
